General Support for the Recycling Industry > Environment
Management System (EMS) Consulting Business |
Background |
|
| |
¢Ã Although the overwhelming majority of people acknowledge
the necessity of environment preservation and resource
saving, the environment industry is still not properly
recognized in society.
- The industry is regarded as a 3D industry which deals
with wastes, and the public is concerned about secondary
environmental pollution caused by recycling.
- NIMBY sentiment makes it difficult to secure land, and
causes aggravated relations with neighboring residents.
¢Ã "EMS certification" enables businesses to
receive confirmation from a third party so that any negative
impact on the environment caused by business activities
is continuously monitored and improved upon. The system
results in various positive effects not only for certified
companies but also for society as a whole. |
 |
- General effects and advantages of EMS for companies
¤ý Upgrades company image as an environment
friendly business ¤ý Decreases environment
civil appeals from residents and makes it easier to convince
consumers ¤ý Reduces the possibility
of breaking environmental regulations ¤ý
Strengthens relations with stakeholders (government, residents,
insurance companies, banks, etc.) ¤ý
Reduces waste treatment costs/saves raw material and energy
¤ý Decreases costs by preventing safety
accidents/expands market competitiveness
- Advantages of being designated as an "environment
friendly business" ¤ý Permission
for installing discharge facilities replaced with reporting
in accordance with the Clean
Air Conservation Act, Water Quality Conservation Act,
and Noise & Vibration Control Act ¤ý
Preference is given to such companies in securing loans
for installing pollution prevention facilities
¤ý Exemptions from regular and irregular
guides/inspections (provided, these guides/inspections
should be
conducted in the case of pollution accidents or civil
appeals)
¢Ã Since consulting and certification costs are required
to establish the system for EMS certification, most companies
in the environment industry cannot obtain certification
due to lack of recognition of EMS and budget shortages.
¢Ã As such, ENVICO provides free consulting for EMS certification
using its own personnel to enable more businesses to obtain
certification. |
