Test and Inspection > Inspection of the Wrapping Method and Materials of the Goods
Objective
Our goal is to control the generation of packaging wastes by businesses and encourage recycling by conducting inspections on whether such businesses are abiding by standards set for packaging material and the method of wrapping.
Standards for Packaging Material and Method of Wrapping
¢Ã Packaging material: PVC packaging material is prohibited for the packaging of eggs, quail eggs, fried foods, kimbap (Korean style sushi rolls), hamburgers, and sandwiches.

¢Ã Packaging method: Standards are set to control unnecessary packaging by reducing the amount of packaging materials and packaging times. Twenty-three items of 5 unit products are the target of the packaging method regulation, including food, cosmetics, detergent, miscellaneous goods, quasi-drugs, clothes, and composite products, etc.

¢Ã Packaging space rate

¢Ã This product is judged to be properly packaged as it satisfies the packaging space rate standard of 10% and below.
Unit Product (Using a fixation)

¢Ã Standard: Packaging space rate of 15% and below (Unit product: liquor, use a paper fixation)

¢Ã Measurements for producing packaging cubic contents
- Packaging container thickness (T): 10.5§®
                                          length (A): 266.0§®
                                          breadth (B): 98.0§®

¡Ø Note: As the thickness of the container is more than 10mm, the parts exceeding 10mm are included in the cubic content.

¢Ã Measurements for producing product's cubic contents
  Bottle length: 256.0§®
              breadth: 82.0§®
              height: 82.0§®
  Product Volume (V) £½ (256+10)(82+10)(82+10)£½2,251,424.0§§
¡Ø Note: As it uses a buffer/fixation, the 5mm thick space, adjacent to the product thickness (length, breadth, and height), is regarded as a necessary space cubic content. The product volume is calculated by adding 10mm (5§®¡¿2) each to the product length, breadth, and height.

¢Ã Packaging space rate

¢Ã For this product, if it uses a plastic saucer, the packaging space rate is 13.1%, thus violating the standard (10% and below). However, if it uses a paper buffer/fixation, the standard is upgraded to 15% and below (10% and below + 5), then it is judged to be properly packaged.

¢Ã Packaging space rate

¢Ã It is a excessive package more than double the packaging space rate standard of 25 % and less. Thus, the package should be redesigned to be a proper one.
