What is the Waste Charge System? |

The Waste Charge System is a policy that holds the manufacturer and importer responsible for the cost of waste disposal for products, materials and containers that contain certain hazardous chemical substances or are difficult to recycle. |

Purpose of the Waste Charge System |
|
- To reduce the amount of the waste in the production process
- To encourage better choice for materials favoring the use of non-hazardous substances
- To impose the cost of waste disposal in accordance with the Polluters Pay Principle |

Use of the Waste Charge |
|
Proceeds from the system are put into a "Special Account System for Environmental Improvement(SASEI)"
- Research and development for reduction of waste and efficient recyclingg
- Support for recycling businesses and the establishment of waste disposal facilities
- Support for waste collection and disposal expenses for local governments
- Purchase and reserve of recyclable materials |
